It is with great sadness that we let you know that your Executive Director, Rick Guggolz, passed away unexpectedly on June 25. He suffered a heart attack while playing basketball with friends. He was 57 years old.
Rick served as the SLA Executive Director for over 20 years. He managed board activities, meetings and other programs for the association. Additionally, Rick was the Vice President of Drohan Management Group for the past 30 years. Rick had a very successful career in association management, having led many associations across a variety of professions and industries throughout his management tenure.
To ensure the continuity of operations, we have named Melissa Pomerene Acting Executive Director. As Deputy Executive Director for SLA, Melissa has been an integral part of Rick's team for more than 13 years and is very familiar with all aspects of association programs. We are confident in her ability to move the association forward.
